Play Mode

Use Play Mode in the early months when your baby is adjusting to the life outside the womb. With Sound Sleeper you will soon discover which sound lulls her to sleep best, whether it’s the rhythm of the womb, the hubbub of the market, or even the whirr of a vacuum cleaner.

Listen Mode

Use Listen Mode when your baby is nearly sleeping through the night – beginning around 6 months. Sound Sleeper “listens” for your baby and starts playing the sound you’ve chosen, automatically – the instant he begins to cry.

3dots

Sleep Tracking

Use Sleep Tracking starting when your baby is about a year old. Sound Sleeper automatically tracks your baby’s sleep and generates graphs that will help you learn and analyze your baby’s sleep patterns. You can add comments to each graph to mark events that influence sleep, such as teething or sickness. Furthermore, you can share any number of graphs with your friends, a sleep professional, or even your mother-in-law.

Thanks to your first app, we have a beautiful little baby. And now thanks to your second app, we are sleeping through the night again. Three cheers for Parents2Parents!!!

This one is really effective. We were at our wits’ end with our son, who is now a little over one year and was getting up A LOT during the night. A friend recommended I try your new app and I decided to give it a roll. Turns out the market sounds were just the trick, so now we use it every night, and the whole family is able to function again. Thank you!

    • March 25, 2012 4:45 pm

      Alex,
We’re so glad to hear that we helped you. The market we recorded at is here in Jerusalem, and is even better in real life. We hope you’ll be lucky enough to visit it one day.
Best wishes, and enjoy your son.

Great app. Perfect for our little one, but great for parents, too. My wife often wakes inadvertently in the middle of the night; Sound Sleeper calmly puts her back to sleep, too. Brilliant work and terrific site. Finally a tech company that antcipates and meets the needs of parents. Can’t wait to see your next app!

    Hi,

Super cool app, but we use an iPhone 4 with a headphone plug in, and there seems to be an issue after I click the “listen” button. When we click listen and make a sound, the device recognizes it and turns on but sound only comes out of the iPhone internal speakers…not the headphone jack into our dock. I have to unplug the headphone and plug it back into the iPhone in order to hear the sound through the headphones. Does this issue make sense? Thanks.

Update the app and it no longer works. Help!!!

    • January 19, 2013 8:18 pm

      Hi Stuart,
You are likely experiencing this problem due to a bug in iOS 6. On certain versions of iOS, the previous version of apps are not perfectly cleaned up by the system when you’re updating, and cause crashes.
To solve the problem please do one of two things:
      1. First try rebooting your device, it should solve the problem.
      2. if this doesn’t help, please delete Sound Sleeper and reinstall it via the app store – of course since you’ve already bought it, you won’t be charged for installation.

      Hi,

Thanks for writing. I’m happy to hear that our app helps you and your baby to sleep better.
Are both your iPhone and your iPad registered with the same Apple ID? If this is the case, you will be able to restore your purchase on your iPad following this procedure.
Open the app on your iPad, tap “Info”->”What’s in the full version?” and tap “Restore Purchase” button (it’s at the bottom of the screen). The full version will be restored.

    Thanks again. Very helpful!

      Hi Adrian,
      Thanks for your nice words.
Regard the problem with the “listening” – please check that your microphone is turned on.
On your iPhone go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone and make sure that Sound Sleeper is switched on.

I was a tad skeptical about this idea when a friend suggested a used white noise to get my new born to sleep but all I can say is try it. This app has been my life saver for the last 5 weeks, to date I only use the noise of the womb and I have it on constantly through the night. I’m so tired it sends me to sleep as well! I’ve bought the full version as I like it to play for longer than 30minutes and you only get 30mins constant play on the free version. I’ve not used the ‘listen facility’ yet as the constant play at the moment is working perfectly.
I would highly recommend this app and will tell all the new mums I know about it.

Is it common for the sound output to diminish over time. I use the womb sound to put our 6 month old to sleep and I have noticed the sound output has diminished quite a bit. When I started out using the app, a 6 on the volume control was sufficient. Currently, I have to set the volume to 55 to get the same effect. I’ve checked my phone settings and everything else is fine. What gives?

    • March 30, 2014 8:28 pm

      Hi Nadia,
Thanks for writing. I haven’t encountered this phenomenon, either myself or from other users. The only thing I can think of is that maybe it’s something to do with your phone? I’m sorry I can’t be more helpful and I hope the app is still helpful for you.

Just about to have my Grandson overnight for the first time. He is mostly sleeping through but wakes occasionally and has just started needing a bottle again at 02.00 hours. In listen mode does the App switch itself off after a set time or does it continue to play until it is paused? Does it have a stop button or just pause? I purchased the paid App.

    Anne

    • April 22, 2014 10:10 pm

      Dear Anne,
Thanks for writing and good luck with the first sleepover! The listen mode will play for as long as you’ve set it, and with the sound and volume you’ve chosen. After Sound Sleeper concludes that play duration, the sound will turn off, and will be activated again only if your grandson wakes up and makes a noise (cry, etc) that activates it. If you press the pause button, this will end the “Listen” mode.
I hope that’s helpful. Try it out yourself before he comes, and let us know if you need more help.

I just wanted to thank you for inventing this wonderful app. I found it in desperation one morning (about 0300 hrs) when my LO was only 4 weeks old – someone had told me about using a vacuum cleaner but I live in an apartment and my husband needed to go to work so I couldn’t just use our vacuum. It works so well my baby has fallen asleep by the time I have counted to 5! The only improvement I would ask is that the noise does not just stop but instead fades out over 5 minutes as sometimes the sudden silence is enough to wake my LO. I recommend it to anyone I know is expecting a baby or having sleep problems.

    • June 6, 2014 6:26 pm

Thank you for your nice words Gill and thanks for your support. We are very happy to hear that the app is so helpful to you. Regarding the extra-long fade out option – it’s on my todo list. Wishing you and your family all the best!

The listen mode works half the time for our baby but then other times he’ll be making a lot of loud noise and it won’t turn on until we go in his room and clear our throat loudly. It sitting right beside his bassinet on a table. Does it have to be a certain distance or placed above or below him or something?

    • June 22, 2014 10:45 pm

      Hi Shannon,
      Thanks for writing.
Please make sure to put your iPhone/iPad with the microphone of the device facing the bassinet, I think it should solve the problem you describe. Another tip, switch the device to the Airplane mode and then you can place it as close as you want to the child. We keep our iPad about a meter from our sleeping baby and find that it doesn’t miss a cry.

I see a lot of sleepless nights ahead until we (hopefully) find an app that works as well as yours. :(

      Hi Brittany,
I’m happy to hear that you like the app. We never tested it on iPod and I’ve never heard about this particular problem from other users. I noticed that it doesn’t automatically access the purchased version when I look to load onto my current iPhone. My understanding is that I can access an app on all my personal devices (iPad, too) once purchased. (as long as they are my devices and all associated with my single Apple account)

Does my device need to be set to never sleep in order for the listen feature to work? It seems like it plays the remaining duration when the device is asleep, but does not go back on in listsen mode.

    • November 23, 2014 9:52 pm

      Hi Rene,
Thanks for writing. The app does not require any special non-sleep setting, and this should not be causing a problem. What I suspect could be the problem: The only requirement for listen mode to work is that your microphone be turned on. Please go to Setting > Privacy > Microphone and make sure that the microphone is enabled for Sound Sleeper.

I found this completely by accident; however, I’m glad I did!!! My daughter is 2 months old and has colic. As you can imagine, I’ve never been able to get anything done NOR get any sleep. It took a few tries with the different sounds, but once I found the market sounds, she calmed right down and just say in her bouncer watching me move about the kitchen. I prepped and made dinner, washed the dishes, swept my floors & she STILL didn’t cry or whine!!! I am completely in love with this app and don’t think I’ll ever delete it! Thank you SO much. She’s listening to the car ride right now and is completely knocked out. I think I’m finally going to get some sleep tonight! Thank you again!

        Hi Laura,
Thanks for writing. I’m happy to hear that the problem was solved. Just as you suggest, we’re making the restore purchase feature more user friendly in our next update. Regarding being charged twice: The way Apple works is that you can never be charged twice for the same product. I guess your previous purchase was just restored by Apple, and that’s what appears – not a separate second charge. If by any chance you notice that Apple actually made you pay twice, which definitely shouldn’t be happening, please let me know and we’ll refund you via the App Store. Wishing you all the best. Hello!
Love this app, it really came into its own about a month ago. It was our first trip away with our baby, then four months. We stayed with friends & felt really nervous, worried she wouldn’t go down for naps and continuously wake through the night. With the help of ‘hairdryer’ she took her naps like a star. And quickly fell asleep whenever she woke through the night. Highly recommend the convenience of the paid version. And I’ve recommended the app to everyone–even strangers in the baby section of shops! My question: any chance you might make a stand-alone device (like that sheep thing)? I don’t have an iPad & I’d like my phone back! Thank you!! Geniuses. :)

    • April 25, 2015 10:54 pm

Hi Jasmyn, happy to hear the app is so helpful to you. The distance and the volume are related. We recommend to turn on Airplane mode when using the device within a meter from your baby. Regarding the volume, the iPad is much louder then the iPhone. We usually don’t need to take the volume slider any higher then 40 on the iPad, Here’s a video of us using the app recently on the iPad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UY_eideGkkE

Now, whenever I open the app, instead of it opening the last sound I used, it automatically starts playing the hair dryer sound. So now I have to go into the menu and find the sound my daughter likes. The extra step is frustrating, especially when I’m holding her! It also asks me to login and buy the premium version every time I open it, but I already have the premium version! I hope you are able to release a new version with these bugs fixed soon. Thanks!

When we put on the rain sound, she instantaneously closes her eyes and settles. However, as soon as we turn it off she wakes again. We think that she isn’t necessarily sleeping, rather relaxing? What do you think?

We’re very happy that Sound Sleeper is so helpful for you. About your question, we can answer as parents rather than as sleep experts which we are not :) We use the app daily with our newborn and did so also with our older kids, and have experienced what you describe. In that situation we would just leave the app on all the time and assume that the child was indeed sleeping, since the app blocks outside noise and helps her relax. In our opinion your baby will sleep as much as she needs, and however the app helps, use it and don’t worry and while she’s resting, take some time for yourself!!

    Hello There,
My partner and I have a little baby boy of 15 weeks now, we are both Registered Blind and iPhone Voice Over users. We have been using your older version of the Sound sleeper app for most of this time with fantastic results! The problem now unfortunately is now we both have upgraded the app recently and find that the only non-accessible (and most important functions) is the Play/Pause/Listen buttons in the UI after selecting any sound. The focus is not detected on any of these. Is this something you could look at in an upcoming release? If you need any technical info/description for the issue, please feel free to contact me. It’s not very often we care enough about improving apps but we look forward to being able to use it once again. Thanks.

Dear Colin, thank you so much for taking the time to write. It makes us very happy to hear that Sound Sleeper is so helpful to your family. Regarding the problem you describe, indeed we had a few bugs in our last version, but yesterday we lunched a new update with all the problems solved (fingers crossed). Please download the new update from the App Store and I hope you will be able to enjoy Sound Sleeper again. Please let me know if you like the new buttons, which we made particularly big this time.
      wishing you all the best.
      Michael

    Hi,

I don’t know if you do requests but is there a way that the sound can be set to lower the volume over a period of time? We find that our little one doesn’t like the sudden stop and we don’t want to play the sound (hair dryer by the way) all night. We are currently resorting to going in every 5 minutes and turning the sound down until eventually it’s off?

    Hopefully you can help!

Thanks in advance and for an awesome app! It really does work and has practically saved our sanity!

      Dear baby Jack,
We’re very happy to hear that you sleep much better now and your parents are feeling better. In the recent update we introduced custom fadeout. If you go to Info / Setting you can set the fade out to be one minute long. But if I understand you correctly, you’re suggesting that the app will fade-out over let’s say an hour, right? That’s an interesting idea and we can experiment with this feature in our next update.

The app has been amazing for the last six months however on our iPad mini the last few times its failed to launch and when it does it doesn’t seem to run for longer than the 30 minute trial time. This is despite Paying for and in theory having the full version. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it only seems to fix the app for a few days. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hi Simon, thanks very much for writing, and we’re very glad the app is so helpful to you. About the in app purchase that you’ve already paid for: To install the full version on your iPad mini please go to Info/Restore purchase and press the Restore Purchase button.
Regarding the crashes, I’m aware of this problem, which has recently arisen, and we’re working now to fix the crashes. The new version will be available hopefully in a few weeks. I apologize for this issue!

    Hi,

I purchased this app in my iPhone. After I upgrade, I tap the Restore Purchase Button of my iPad and iPod touch. My iPad is available, but iPod isn’t. My iPod’s iOS is 6.1.6 and can’t upgrade. Help me. Thanks!

      Hi Sumi,
Thanks very much for writing. Sound Sleeper supports devices with iOS 7 and higher, that could be the reason why you can’t upgrade on your iPod. I apologize about that. I hope you will still find our app useful with your two other devices. Best regards. Michael.
